Our Vision
Strawberry Mansion Neighborhood and Homeowners Association (SMNHA) is a newly forming organization in the 5th Council and the 22nd Police Districts of the city of Philadelphia. It is a division of Northcentral Neighbors Unite and Philadelphia Neighborhoods United, two proposed councils forming with the hopes of having collaborations across Philadelphia for the betterment of all citizens. Strawberry Mansion has strong and resilient current day activists and community activism organizations, many with historical track records fighting for freedom and justice, thusly SMNHA hopes to partner with these legacies in effort to continue to identify, organize, unify and advocate for the needs of residents and homeowners, employing an “old-school” door-to-door approach to assessing needs and concerns.
The fact that there are many local, city, state, and commercial entities which operate in our neighborhoods, often it is difficult to know exactly which agency to contact about a problem or a potential solution. SMNHA hopes to be a bridge which will educate, inform, and monitor progress with residents to ensure that the individual needs as well as the collective needs, interest, and rights of residents are voiced, heard, assessed, and protected. We will partner with residents to monitor how community organizations, commercial and governing entities are interacting with community concerns and develop systems and strategies which will ensure the protection of historic and generational wealth and wellness; as well as usher in new technologies and partnerships which will advance the economic, social, emotional, mental, spiritual and communal health.
